The Mylogenics method is Overload Worldwide's flagship, used for more than ten years by personal trainers, physiotherapists and health professionals. Remko Opdam is certified in all three modules and builds them into every 17-week programme in Haarlem as standard.
In short
The combination of neuromuscular assessment, tissue therapy and active rehabilitation, built into a training programme.
Mylogenics is a methodology from Overload Worldwide in The Hague, used for well over ten years by trainers, physiotherapists and health professionals. The core idea: training and recovery are not separate worlds. If you want to build strength without accounting for the underlying patterns of muscle recruitment, tissue tension and recovery capacity, you will build yourself into a corner.
The method consists of three modules that reinforce each other: Activation, understanding which muscles engage and which do not, Release, freeing tissue that has become stuck, and Rehab, rebuilding strength and function. Together they form the Mylogenics package. Each of the three is a separate certification with Overload Worldwide, and a coach who holds all three has a complete set of tools to combine training and recovery in one programme.
According to Overload Worldwide the method is still relatively unknown in the Netherlands, despite ten years in practice. For clients whose complaints do not clear up with standard training, or athletes who keep stalling on small injuries, the Mylogenics approach can be the difference between muddling on and real progress.
Activation, Release and Rehab, each with its own role in the programme.
What it involves: more than 50 muscle tests that map which muscles the nervous system recruits correctly and which lag behind. That includes origin-insertion techniques, muscle length tests and stress protocols.
Why this is crucial: if you put force through a muscle that is not being recruited, you train another part of the body instead, often one that is already overloaded. For anyone over 40, or with an old injury, this is frequently the root of the complaint. Before we load anything seriously, we know how the body works right now.
What it involves: techniques to free adhesions in muscle, fascia and nerve tissue. Old injuries, repetitive load and chronic stress can leave tissue literally stuck, which causes pain and restriction. Nutritional support for tissue repair is part of it.
Why this is crucial: for clients who have carried a "short back", a "stuck shoulder" or a recurring pain pattern for years. The problem is often not weakness but restriction. Once that is free, the load can rise faster without setting off the old complaint.
What it involves: an intensive module with active protocols for strength, speed, endurance and stability. It includes proprioceptive training and sport-specific rehabilitation, unlike classical physiotherapy where passive techniques take centre stage.
Why this is crucial: anyone coming back from an injury or an operation needs more than less pain, they need a structured route back to function. The same applies to preventive build-up: stability and proprioception are the base that strength and speed can rest on without failing again.
Not something everyone needs, and for some clients the deciding factor.
Not everyone is looking for a personal trainer. Sometimes you just want to get rid of that one complaint.
My PT clients don't need any of this: for them it is already included in the programme, at no extra charge. But I keep getting the question whether a treatment is also possible on its own, without a programme. It is, and it works like this:
Treatments are by appointment, at SportCity Haarlem Raaks in the centre of Haarlem.
Mylogenics is not physiotherapy and is not covered by Dutch health insurance. For PT clients of Infinite Health it is already included in the programme.
Alongside my main certification as a T.O.P. Trainer A, I completed all three Mylogenics modules in 2024: Activation, Release and Rehab. That means I can both train you and work on the underlying patterns holding you back, in the same session.
What that does in practice: a client who arrives with "a back that seizes up now and then" does not have to see a physio before we can start. We run the Activation tests, find where the restriction sits, use Release techniques where needed, and build from there with the Rehab approach. No months lost between appointments.
Important: I am not a physiotherapist and not a doctor. With medical complaints or unexplained symptoms I always refer you to the right professional. The Mylogenics approach is an addition, not a replacement.

No extra service, no separate billing. It is part of how I work. Not on a programme? There is the single treatment.
